UPDATE: Police: Threat on Instagram Against DHS Traced to Juvenile in Arkansas

UPDATE, 11:59 a.m.
A juvenile in Arkansas posted the threat that caused Darien High School to be closed Tuesday, and that juvenile is being questioned, Darien Police Chief Jeremiah P. Marron Jr. said in an 11:35 a.m. email.
“[A]fter school athletics will run as scheduled,” Interim Schools Superintendent Eric Byrne said in an announcement emailed at 11:42 a.m. Darien police will increase patrolling near schools and at homecoming events in the next few days, Byrne said.

After a picture was posted online by a Darien High School student showing the student with a gun — which turned out to be a BB gun — Principal Ellen Dunn assured parents on Wednesday that “no direct threats were made toward the school or any DHS student.”

UPDATE: Police Revise Story About That Package With $10,000 Left on Darien Doorstep

Updated at 6:18 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 — Darien police on Tuesday withdrew several parts of the department’s announcement about a package with $10,000 found on the doorstep of a vacant house.
The parts about what happened in Darien were unchanged: The money was found, it came from an elderly woman scammed with a false story that her son had been arrested, and a man came three times, demanding the package.
