Here’s the full text, as prepared, of First Selectman Jayme Stevenson’s State of the Town Address before the Representative Town Meeting and other town officials Monday night (Darienite will publish the other addresses from that night, as they are sent in.):

Good evening Mr. Moderator, members of the RTM and my fellow elected and appointed colleagues. Would the new RTM members please stand so we can welcome you appropriately!

Elizabeth (Wisty) DeCoster Moseley of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, died at the age of 92, Nov. 30 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was born in St. Paul, Minnesota, and leaves behind daughters Christine Moseley Milloff (husband Mark) and Lisa Cole Moseley, and son Peter Livingston Moseley (wife Lisa). Her husband of 67 years, Thomas Clark Moseley, Sr., passed away just 2 months ago.

 “An Old Fashioned Holiday” outdoor celebration with lights, ornament and cookie decorating, writing letters to Santa, hot cider, snacks and visits from Frosty and one of Santa’s reindeer. The free event, organized by Darien Parks and Recreation  Department, takes place from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Tilley Pond Park
From the department’s announcement:
Come and enjoy some holiday cheer with your friends and neighbors. Take in the holiday lights and a roaring fire, while the kids decorate ornaments and cookies. 
There will also be a letter writing station, so kids can write letters to Santa. The Parks and Recreation Department will be selling festive old fashioned goodies including: hot cider, ribbon candy, doughnuts and popcorn balls.

How would you like to commute above the traffic by aerial cableway? Thousands do it daily in cities around the world and more places are looking at this technology as a solution. Many Americans have used aerial cableways — small, enclosed cabins carried up and over the terrain, attached to moving cables — at DisneyWorld or ski resorts. But here we’re talking about much bigger transit systems.

Maybe you’ve ridden on the Roosevelt Island Tramway in New York City. Opened in 1976 to connect the island’s residents to the Upper East Side, it once carried 5,500 passengers daily, though ridership has dropped since a new subway station opened.

A Bloc of Writers, a Greenwich-based writing, editing, and tutoring company, has launched a new service called Essay Rx, designed to help students proof, polish, and perfect their college admissions essays. “With less than a month before regular decision applications are due, students need a way to receive quick, professional feedback on their college essays,” said Michele Turk, founder of A Bloc of Writers. — This article previously was published by Greenwich Free Press. Essay Rx is also geared toward students who already applied to their first-choice colleges either early action or early decision who might be deferred or rejected in mid-December. Many of these students don’t have a backup plan, and they scramble to write a dozen or more essays in a two-week time frame, Turk said.

George William Lohr, Jr., 83 of Landrum, South Carolina, previously of Darien, passed away peacefully at his home Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 22. Born in Buffalo, New York on Feb. 23, 1935, Mr. Lohr was the husband of Donna M. Lohr. He was the son of the late George William Lohr, Sr. and Cecile Emilia Lohr, of East Aurora, New York.

Jeanne Theresa Ladue, 90, died Nov. 8 at Wake Robin nursing home in Shelburne, Vermont, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Ladue was born on Sept. 5, 1928 in Maracaibo, Venezuela, the daughter of Richard Gordon Bennett and Carmen Theresa Dalla Costa Bennett. She lived in Venezuela, England and Trinidad and graduated from the Loretto Academy in Niagara Falls, Canada.
