Ted Larson, 82, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and East Orleans, Massachusetts passed away peacefully on Dec. 6, 2019 after succumbing to injuries sustained during a bicycle accident in October. John Theodore Larson was born in 1937 to John and Frieda Larson in Roslyn, New York. After graduating from Darien High School in 1955 he went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in chemistry and economics at Cornell University and an MBA from Columbia University. After graduation he worked for Union Carbide and then spent over 25 years in marketing and operations at General Foods.

Brigitte Olsson, a recent immigrant to the U.S. and Darien, died on Tuesday Dec. 3, 2019. She was 85. She was born Brigitte Matern in Grieslinen, East Prussia, now part of Poland, on May 10, 1934. She and her five siblings fled to West Germany to escape Russian troops marching to Berlin in January 1945, and in 1956 she moved to Switzerland to become sales manager in a clothing company.

Susan Parker Gurney died on Thursday, Nov. 14, peacefully at her home in Darien. Mrs. Gurney worked as a model while attending Skidmore College, then at Bankers Trust Co. as a platform assistant. She is survived by her two children, Christie Rawlings of Lakeville and Mariamne “Magie” Gurney of Darien; her stepson, Christopher Gurney of Clearwater, Florida; three grandchildren; and her sibling, K. Bryan Parker.

Patrick C. “Pat” Lowery, 71, of Norwalk, died at the Norwalk Hospital on Nov. 29. He was the loving husband of Christine (D’Amato) Lowery for 46 years.  Pat was born in Tarrytown, New York on Oct. 17, 1948, the son of the late Edward D. and Catherine (Curtin) Lowery. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, and was a longtime employee of BMW of Darien.

Mrs. Sally Lila Mazzeo Wynne, 87, a longtime resident of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Nov. 24 with her family at her side. Sally’s children describe their Mom as patriotic, fiercely loyal and loving to her family and friends, and courageous in the face of life’s trial and tribulations. She was born Sept. 10, 1932 in Stamford to the late Salvatore and Lillian Conti Mazzeo.

Herbert A. Granath of Darien passed away peacefully on Nov. 26 in Stamford. He was 91 years old. Herb was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Brooklyn Tech High School. He studied physics at Fordham University while working nights as a page at NBC, and, with his interest in media thus sparked, went on to do graduate work at Fordham in communication arts.

Bill McDonagh of Palm Coast, Florida passed away at Halifax Hospital in Daytona Beach, Florida on Nov. 12. He was born and raised in Canbrack, Kiltimagh, County Mayo, Ireland and moved to the United States when he was 19. He lived in Queens, New York, Stamford and Darien before retiring to Florida. Bill worked as an engineer for Metro-North Railroad for 40 years, retiring in 2004.

Roy G. Blackfield, Jr. of Vero Beach, Florida, formally of Darien and Fairfield, passed away on Aug. 3 at Indian River Hospital. He was 89. Roy was born Dec, 18, 1929 in Chicago to Roy G. Blackfield, Sr. and Mildred (Larson) Blackfield. Roy grew up in the Chicago area where he began his career in the newspaper advertising business and where he met the love of his life Joyce Beverly Ahlstrand.
