Patricia M. Coleman of Darien, loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, April 4. She was 76. Trish was born in Staten Island, New York to John Patrick McCusker and Rose Rodriguez. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University. She spent most of her life in and around New York City where she met her husband, William Richard Coleman, whom she married in 1984.

Shirley Brooks, a longtime resident of Old Greenwich and most recently of Brighton Gardens of Stamford, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Colonel Hugh and Florence Parks. Shirley received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College in Pennsylvania, master’s degree from University of Bridgeport and continued her studies at Columbia University in New York. Shirley enjoyed working with children and was an elementary schoolteacher in the Greenwich school system for 37 years.

David Edwin Winebrenner, IV, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Darien, died on Tuesday, March 28. He was 82. Dave was born in Hanover, Pennsylvania, on Sept. 13, 1940, to Betsy and David (Ned) Winebrenner. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, and Yale University in 1963.

Ralph John Benzenberg passed away peacefully on Monday, March 27 in Connecticut. He was 80. He and his wife Patricia were living in Milford for the past five years. Before moving to Milford, he and Patricia were Darien residents for over 40 years. Ralph was born in Brooklyn, New York on Oct.

Vera M. Crawford, 92, a resident of North Andover, Massachusetts, and formerly Dorset, Vermont, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29 at The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover. Born in New York City on Oct. 12, 1930, Vera was the daughter of the late Robert and Veronica Martin of Greenwich. Vera graduated from Rosemary Hall in Greenwich and Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. She worked in New York City for a publishing company before marrying Warren Wentworth Crawford in 1956.

It is with great sadness that we announce Robert Daniel Labella, 60, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25. Robert was born on July 16, 1962, and attended Stamford High School. He went on to become a machinist at Pitney Bowes before discovering his true passion of refereeing and umpiring throughout Fairfield County. He was very involved in coaching a variety of sports in Darien, especially Darien Little League. Robert was truly a larger-than-life figure, and loved by all who knew him.

Patricia (Pat) Smyth, 82, passed away peacefully on March 16 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida with her children by her side. Pat was born on June 2, 1940, in Stamford, the daughter of Ann and Stanley Hojnacki. She was a Stamford High School and UConn graduate, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was on the faculty of the Holmes School in Darien, spent many years as a substitute teacher and as a local real estate agent in Stamford. Pat loved her family a great deal and was very active in all their lives and activities.

Patricia Ann Hynes Delyonas, age 87, of Norwalk, passed away on March 27, 2023, after a short illness. She was born March 16, 1936, in Stamford to the late John “Jerry” Hynes and Jane Ormond Hynes, as the youngest of five sisters. She graduated from St. John’s Parochial School and Sacred Heart Academy. Pat met her husband while working at Pitney Bowes, and they married on Nov.

Jeanne Frances Crotty, a former resident of Darien and New Canaan, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023. She was 92. Born on March 30, 1930, in St. Louis, Jeanne was the daughter of Patrick Francis Murphy and Mary Henora O’Day. Jeanne graduated from LeClerc College and worked as a secretary at Monsanto Chemical.

Sheila Warfield Johnson died on March 9, 2023 at home in Stamford after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was 79. She was born Dec. 2, 1943 in New York City to Eleanor and Collister Johnson, and attended Ms. Porter’s School and Smith College. She majored in French literature, studying abroad her junior year at the Sorbonne in Paris, and was a member of the Octavians singing group.

Sheila Pataky Youngblood died on Monday, Feb. 13, 2023 in the memory care unit of The Springs at Butte after a brutal bout with dementia. She was 81. A longtime Butte, Montana resident, Sheila, the daughter of Charlotte (Hammerberg) Pataky and Francis J. Pataky and twin sister of Jane Pataky Henderson, was born in Bridgeport on Feb. 16, 1942.

Sandra (Sandy) Steck Anderson Ladd passed away peacefully at the age of 84 on the evening of March 3, 2023 in New Milford. She passed in the presence of her three loving children. Sandy was born to John F. and Marie Steck in New Milford on Oct. 20, 1938. After graduating from New Milford High School in 1956 she worked for Southern New England Telephone in New Haven, where she met future husband Bruce Anderson.

Junius R. “Sandy” Clark III of Sarasota, FL, formerly of Darien, passed away on March 7, 2023. He was 87. Sandy was born on Oct. 26, 1935 in Buffalo, New York to Margaret and Junius Clark II and raised in Shaker Heights, Ohio. He graduated from Cleveland’s college preparatory University School in 1953 and Yale University in 1957.

Marion (Marty) Moore Gilbert passed away peacefully on Monday March 6, 2023 in her home in Darien. She was 89. Marty is remembered for her boundless joy, expansive spirit and unconditional love for all she encountered. Born on April 3, 1933 in San Mateo, California, Marty’s parents were Jane Foster Moore and Edward Small Moore Jr. Marty graduated from Smith College in 1955 where she was later honored as a remarkable alumnae in 1999. She earned a master’s degree in library science from Pratt Institute and served as an elementary school librarian at Tokeneke and Royle elementary schools for nearly two decades until 1989.

In the arms of angels, Phyllis Hayward Flandreau passed away peacefully on Feb. 3, 2023, at the age of 103. She was under care at the Hospice of the Fisher Home in Amherst, Massachusetts. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Alexander “Sandy” Flandreau, who died Aug. 8, 2015, at the age of 95.
