Shirley Brooks, a longtime resident of Old Greenwich and most recently of Brighton Gardens of Stamford, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh. She was the daughter of the late Colonel Hugh and Florence Parks. Shirley received her undergraduate degree from Westminster College in Pennsylvania, master’s degree from University of Bridgeport and continued her studies at Columbia University in New York. Shirley enjoyed working with children and was an elementary schoolteacher in the Greenwich school system for 37 years.

Vera M. Crawford, 92, a resident of North Andover, Massachusetts, and formerly Dorset, Vermont, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 29 at The Meadows at Edgewood in North Andover. Born in New York City on Oct. 12, 1930, Vera was the daughter of the late Robert and Veronica Martin of Greenwich. Vera graduated from Rosemary Hall in Greenwich and Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts. She worked in New York City for a publishing company before marrying Warren Wentworth Crawford in 1956.

It is with great sadness that we announce Robert Daniel Labella, 60, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25. Robert was born on July 16, 1962, and attended Stamford High School. He went on to become a machinist at Pitney Bowes before discovering his true passion of refereeing and umpiring throughout Fairfield County. He was very involved in coaching a variety of sports in Darien, especially Darien Little League. Robert was truly a larger-than-life figure, and loved by all who knew him.
