Patricia (Pat) Smyth, 82, passed away peacefully on March 16 in Lakewood Ranch, Florida with her children by her side.
Pat was born on June 2, 1940, in Stamford, the daughter of Ann and Stanley Hojnacki.
She was a Stamford High School and UConn graduate, where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was on the faculty of the Holmes School in Darien, spent many years as a substitute teacher and as a local real estate agent in Stamford.
Pat loved her family a great deal and was very active in all their lives and activities. She was beautiful both inside and out, and her loving presence will be greatly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, Pat was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, John (Jack) Smyth.
She is survived by her son, John, and his wife, Karen; her daughter, Sheri Harrington, and Sheri’s husband, James; and five granddaughters — Alexandra Struckmeyer (Smyth), Victoria Popp (Smyth), Elle Smyth, Brooke Harrington, Leigh Harrington; and one great-granddaughter — Adelaide Struckmeyer.
Her funeral was held March 25, 2023, followed by a burial at St. John Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Pat’s honor may be made to The Stamford Woman’s Club, St Cecilia’s Church, or Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida.
