Jeanne Frances Crotty, a former resident of Darien and New Canaan, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2023. She was 92.

Jeanne Crotty, 92, passed away on March 17. A private memorial ceremony will be held for the family, and a celebration of life event will take place at a future date.
Born on March 30, 1930, in St. Louis, Jeanne was the daughter of Patrick Francis Murphy and Mary Henora O’Day. Jeanne graduated from LeClerc College and worked as a secretary at Monsanto Chemical.
Raising her seven children and moving the family frequently around the globe kept her quite busy, but she found time to volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels and Waveny Care Center in New Canaan.
Jeanne was also an avid reader, loved to play Mahjong and had a wonderful sense of humor, including the unique ability to laugh at herself, especially as it related to her use of technology.
Jeanne was married to Thomas J. Crotty of East St. Louis, Illinois for 42 years until his passing in 1997. She is survived by her seven children: Mary Clare Foote (John), Thomas J. Crotty, Jr. (Shari), Susan Crotty, Peggy MacMannis (Jim), Ann Beaudoin (Jean), Carole Fallon (Jim) and Patrick Crotty (Jenny). Jeanne is also survived by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
After a ceremony with family in Chicago, Jeanne will be interned at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan. The Crotty family plans to have a celebration of life at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
