A 39-year-old woman was driving east on West Norwalk Road “at what appeared to be a high rate of speed,” when an officer stopped her vehicle and smelled alcohol on her breath, a police news release said.

Police gave this account of the matter, including accusations not proven in court:

The vehicle was stopped at 2:58 a.m., Wednesday, May 22. The woman, a Stratford resident, wasn’t able to perform standard field sobriety tests at the scene, so she was charged with driving while intoxicated. She was also charged with driving unreasonably fast.

At Police Headquarters, a blood-alcohol test showed her at twice the legal limit of 0.08. Police didn’t release the exact BAC reading. She was released on a $50 and is scheduled to appear June 13 in state Superior Court in Stamford.
