It is with great sadness that we announce Robert Daniel Labella, 60, of Stamford, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 25.

Robert was born on July 16, 1962, and attended Stamford High School. He went on to become a machinist at Pitney Bowes before discovering his true passion of refereeing and umpiring throughout Fairfield County.

He was very involved in coaching a variety of sports in Darien, especially Darien Little League.

Robert Labella, 60, passed away March 25. His wake will be on Sunday, and his funeral on Monday.

Robert was truly a larger-than-life figure, and loved by all who knew him. He would give the shirt off his back to a stranger and always gave everything and more to his friends and family.

He was a loving, hilarious father, dedicated sports referee, and renowned for his huge heart and warm laugh. Robert lit up a room, and his presence will always remain unmatched.

Robert is pre-deceased by his father Richard LaBella Sr., and is survived by his two daughters, Jessica and Rachel, Mother Patricia, siblings Richard and his wife Josephine, Ronny and his wife Toni, Patti and her husband Steve, and Roger, as well as the mother of his children Marianna.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 2, 2023 at The Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3, at St. Mary’s Church 556 Elm St Stamford, CT

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, a charity which Robert donated to whenever he had the chance.
