Charles E. Stuart, 65, passed away on Nov. 24. Born May 19, 1953, Charles graduated from the Norwalk Public School system and worked at Yankee Gas/Eversource in Norwalk, The best father/grandfather anyone could ask for, Charlie was always there as a strong backbone to help any of his family or friends and made me the man I am today. He would happily drop anything just to make sure that his family was taken care of. The world was a better place knowing that Charlie was around.

Ruth Roberts Cheswick, a longtime resident of Darien and Hobe Sound, Florida, died Friday, Nov. 16 in Stamford. Born Dec. 15, 1926, she was the daughter of William A. Roberts and Anna Blom Roberts of Utica, New York. After her education at Sunset Avenue Elementary School and Utica Free Academy, Ruth went to Wellesley College to study economics.

Dale Paulsen was a wonderful husband and father who tragically passed away Nov. 18 at the age of 67. He was born in Iowa, and grew up in Southern California ( Go Lakers and Dodgers!) Dale served as a pastor, preaching about Jesus’ love and forgiveness for almost 45 years with his wonderful wife Emily. He was a youth pastor at heart, loving to play and laugh. He is survived by Emily and her three sons, their wives and seven grandchildren.

Ann Leonard Reitz, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, and friend, died on Thursday, Nov. 15, in Oxford, Ohio.  She was 82. “Nan” was born March 16, 1936 outside of Washington, D.C., until her father’s job at the United Nations took the family to New York City. A graduate of Cornell and Radcliffe, Nan married her husband Bart in 1961, and they moved to the town of Wyoming, Ohio in 1967, where they lived (with stops in Evanston, Illinois and Darien, Connecticut) until this summer. Nan received her PhD in English literature from the University of Cincinnati and went on to teach in that department from 1985 to 1999.  Complications from Alzheimer’s prompted a move to Oxford to be closer to family.

Suzanne Jacobs passed away peacefully on Nov. 14, 2018 at VNA Hospice House of Vero Beach, surrounded by her loving family. 

Suzanne was born Jan. 22, 1935 in Hollywood, California, to Mary Frances and Eugene Brooks. After the death of her father, when Suzanne was 10, she moved to Fremont, Nebraska with her mother and younger sister, Mary Lou. In Fremont, Suzanne eventually taught and performed dance at her mother’s dance studio for many years.

Dorita G. Zinna, of Darien passed away on Nov. 13. Born on August 19, 1931, in Buenos Aires,  Dorita received a degree in education and pursued a career in teaching in her twenties. Fluent in English, Spanish and Italian, her love of languages led her to a job as a translator for Melati, an international business firm in Buenos Aires. In 1960, Dorita met the love of her life, Joseph A. Zinna.

It is with extreme sadness that the family of Margaret Anne Blonder, recently of Tarrytown, New York, announces her passing on Nov. 8, 2018. She was 51. Margaret (“Peggy”) grew up in Darien, Lake Forest, Illinois and Albany, New York. She attended Parsons School of Design, Hunter College and the University of New Orleans. She earned a B.A. and law degree from University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, where she was selected to serve as editorial staff of the Natural Resources Law Journal in 2007.

William Wright Lester passed away unexpectedly at age 84 in Darien on Saturday, Nov. 10. Bill, as he was known, was born May 14, 1934 in Lansing, Michigan to Harry and Ireta (Wright) Lester. He was raised in Carleton, Michigan. After graduating from Airport High School, Bill went on to Michigan State University, where he earned bachelors, masters, and PhD degrees in physics.

Jane VanBeek, formerly of Cold Spring, New York, passed peacefully from Glioblastoma Multiforme at her home in Darien on Saturday, Nov. 10, surrounded by her adoring family. She was just 72 years old. She lived for her children, and she was extremely close to her small family. She exuded unconditional love that surpassed the imaginable.

Dr. James V. Joy III, best known as Jim, died Thursday, Nov. 1, in Ushuaia, Argentina, in a skiing accident while on his journey to Antarctica to ski all seven continents. Jim was 54 years old and leaves behind his beautiful wife Lori, and daughters Katie and Audrey. Jim was born on May 12, 1964, to James V. Joy, Jr and Clare Joy. Jim was born to the delight of his parents, after having three daughters, and to carry on the family name.
