Carl A. “Cappy” Yarnold passed away on Nov. 20. He was 71.

Carl Yarnold, 71, passed away on Nov. 20. His funeral will be held Dec. 1.
Born on June 29, 1947 in Haverhill, New Hampshire, Cappy grew up in Darien, where he graduated from Darien High School in 1965. He enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the aircraft carrier, USS Essex. He retired from Southern New England Telephone in 1994 after 25 years of service.
Cappy took pride in his home and loved doing projects, especially “mowing the lawn.” He was a dedicated dad and loving husband of almost 46 years. Cappy and his wife, Patti, loved traveling to the Caribbean and especially to Cape Cod.
Besides his wife, Patti, he is survived by his two beloved children: Kate and her husband, Tom Hostetler; and son, Todd, and his wife, Jennifer. He also leaves behind his adorable grandson, Shane Hostetler, who Cappy called “Shanie Gray”; as well as two step grandsons: Azam and Aaron. Also, his sister, Carole, and her husband, Mike, of Roseville, California; a brother, Richard, of Monterey, California; and a step-sister, Susan Dilloway, of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

He was the son of the late Barbara and Kenneth Yarnold of Darien and Rosarito, Mexico. Cappy was also very fond of his Ischoda Yacht Club buddies, especially Ricky Shand, who was a big help to the family.
Friends are invited to a memorial visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, Dec. 1 at Collins Funeral Home, 92 East Ave., Norwalk.
