Lanes will be closed at spots in Greenwich, Stamford and Darien on Interstate 95 for three nights this week, Tuesday through Thursday, for bridge inspections and maintenance work, the state Department of Transportation announced.

Daytime work on the highway is also scheduled for stretches in Greenwich and Norwalk this week.

The work starts at 11 p.m. each night and is scheduled to conclude at 6 a.m. the next morning, starting Tuesday, Sept. 4 and ending early Friday morning. In Darien, the work will be on stretches of the highway from Stamford to Exit 12, the announcement said.

Two lanes at a time will be closed, sometimes on the right, sometimes on the left, on both the northbound- and southbound-traffic sides of the highway, ConnDOT said.

DAYTIME Lane Closures This Week, Elsewhere

Additional bridge inspection and maintenance work will take place in the daytime at these two spots on Interstate 95:

  • from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., closing  I-95 lanes in Greenwich between the New York state line and Exit 2.
  • from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., closing I-95 lanes in Norwalk, on both the northbound and southbound-traffic lanes between Exits 14 and 17.

INTERSTATE 95

—Major, Multi-Year Interstate 95 Reconstruction in NY Along the Mile Closest to CT — Various bridges will be repaired, one replaced, ramps changed, the highway widened in the “last mile” of I-95 from about the Connecticut border to the area near the interchange with I-287, the Cross-Westchester Expressway. COMPLETION SOMETIME IN 2021.

Interstate 95, Between Exits 15 and 16 — Rehabilitation work on the Yankee Doodle Bridge carrying I-95 over the Norwalk River between Exits 15 and 16 was scheduled to begin on or about Aug. 16, 2018. The project is expected to last 15 months, with completion scheduled BY NOV. 23, 2019.

Nighttime Lane Closures on I-95, Off and On, in Greenwich, Stamford Start July 1, Continue Till Nov 15 (June 29) COMPLETION DATE: Nov. 15

Rt. 1 Bridge Over I-95 at Exit 9 To Be Replaced By November 2019 (June 20) NO LONG TERM LANE CLOSURES EXPECTED. COMPLETION DATE: Nov. 30, 2019

MERRITT PARKWAY

Nighttime Merritt Parkway Paving/Safety Project to Resume Monday, Aug 6 in Stamford, New Canaan (July 30) — COMPLETION: This project was scheduled to be completed sometime in September.
