John Charles Zimmermann of West Lebanon, New Hampshire passed away Sunday, July 25, 2021. He was born June 25, 1932, in Stamford, and enjoyed sailing, both racing and instructing in his youth on Long Island Sound. Jack was graduated from Dartmouth College and completed graduate courses at Johns Hopkins University. He served in the Navy for almost four years, attending Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island, before being assigned as a communications officer on a destroyer in the Pacific. Jack gained promotion to lieutenant, completing his service as a small boat facilities master in Annapolis, Maryland, where he learned a great deal about making do and devising innovative solutions to challenging problems and processes.

Lynn F. Glaze, of Greenville, passed away peacefully on July 10 at the age of 88. Born and raised in Berkeley, California, Lynn was the daughter of Kenneth Loveland Ferguson and Constance May Pedder Ferguson. After graduating from Stanford University with a B.A. in elementary education, she taught school in Roswell, New Mexico, and San Diego before marrying her Stanford classmate, Harry Smith Glaze Jr., in 1957. Lynn and Harry lived in Marin County, California, where their daughter, Catherine, was born before returning to Stanford, where Lynn received an Master of Arts degree in education while Harry got an MBA. They then moved to Darien, where Lynn was a substitute teacher until their son, Charles, was born.

Mariechen Smith’s long and joyful life came to an end on July 6 at Carolina Meadows in Chatham County, North Carolina, where she resided for the last 24 years. She was 96. Born on July 27, 1924, Mariechen grew up in Old Greenwich. She attended the Greenwich Academy and graduated from the Grier School in Tyrone, Pennsylvania in 1941. She graduated from the Connecticut College for Women in 1944.

Harold James Keena passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 18, 2021, surrounded by his family. He had just celebrated his 86th birthday on July 3. Born in 1935, Harold grew up in Norwalk, graduating from Norwalk High School in 1954. He served as a Navy corpsman from 1955-1958, stationed in Bainbridge, Maryland and Chelsea, Massachusetts. After serving in the Navy, he went on to attend Nichols College.

Ron was born April 20, 1938 in Paris, Texas. After years of service with the U.S. Army, Ron joined the Associated Press, where he worked for 40 years.

After graduating from Lake Region High School in Maine he became a much sought after fashion model in New York City for several years.

Louisa grew up attending Stamford Public Schools and, after marrying in 1960, returned to the school system to begin a career there that would last over 50 years. Her first job was as a secretary while she attended college classes part-time.

John Francis “Jack” McGoldrick, formerly of Darien, passed away at his home in Brevard, North Carolina, on June 28, 2021. He was 91. Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 30, 1927, he grew up in Forest Hills, New York, the son of Frank and Jean McGoldrick. He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, following a 65-year marriage. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in journalism, he saw active duty as an infantry officer in the 2nd Marine Division and as a public affairs officer at HQ4th MCRD in Philadelphia.
