Selma Irene Lamensdorf, nee Cokely, born on July 29, 1930, passed away peacefully on Nov. 28. She was born in Providence, R.I. and raised in Warwick, R.I. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Merton F. Cokely, and she had an older brother, Kenneth. Born at the onset of the Great Depression, Selma was able to advance herself by earning an academic scholarship to Pembroke College (at the time, the sister school to Brown University). She majored in economics and graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.

David Albert Koch passed away peacefully at his home in Darien on Nov. 30 after a long fight with brain cancer. He was 43. Mr. Koch was born on June 17, 1974, in Cleveland,  to Al and Bonnie Koch. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and from Columbia University in 2004 with a master of business administration degree.

Catherine Hoyt-Frederick passed away peacefully at the age of 99 on Nov. 13. Born in Stamford on July 20, 1918, she was the daughter of the late John T. Cherry and Elizabeth (Schwappach) Cherry. She was a graduate of Stamford public schools and retired from Dunlap & Associates in Darien. She was predeceased by her husbands, Howard J. Hoyt and Richard R. Frederick; a son, Allen H. Hoyt; a sister, Margaret Nizlek; and a brother, John J. Cherry.

Catherine Billingsley Sullivan, age 81, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Nov. 23 in Bennington, Vt. A former longtime resident of Scituate, Cathy was born and raised in Darien. While she enjoyed traveling and lived both overseas and in various locations on the East Coast, she was a Bay Stater at heart and a devoted fan of the Red Sox and Celtics. When she wasn’t performing daily maternal miracles, she loved going to art museums (the MFA and ICA were particular favorites), watching movies (Alfred Hitchcock), and curling up on the couch with a good book.   She was a generous and welcoming hostess whose home was often filled with visitors.
