A Darien High School teacher overheard what appeared to be the sale of some marijuana between students, and when the boys — aged 14 and 15 — were questioned, they confessed, police said.
Darien police described the matter with this account (including accusations not proven in court):
The teacher told school staff about the incident, and the students who were identified and questioned. The 14-year-old buyer admitted to getting the marijuana, which police later weighed at 6.16 grams as packaged (more than what would be put in a typical marijuana cigarette).
The seller, age 15, admitted to selling four bags of marijuana for a total of $40. The two boys had texted each other, and police saw the messages, which corroborated what they each said.
The seller was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to sell; the buyer, with possession of marijuana. The matter was reported to police at about 9 a.m. on the day the students were caught.
The 14-year-old was to appear April 12 in juvenile court in Stamford; the seller on Tuesday, April 19.
Typically, students are suspended from school for a time after they’re caught selling or buying illegal drugs at school, a police spokesman said.
