A custom mountain bike was reported stolen on Thursday, Nov. 11, from the driveway of a home Tokeneke Road.
Sharon Joy Workman died peacefully on Nov. 8 at her residence at the Edgehill Retirement Community in Stamford surrounded by her children. She was 91.
Seven victims reported the theft of checks mailed from mailboxes in Darien, including mailboxes outside the Post Office — and in one case, a paycheck that was mailed to a town resident — the victims told police on Nov. 2, 3, 6, 9, 10 and 11.
Recent reports around town of stolen mail involving checks being cashed has caused the Darien Police Department to recommend avoiding use of home mailboxes for outgoing bills.
Although mail theft has even occurred when checks were mailed from the mailboxes outside the Darien Post Office, police are still recommending that outdoor, blue U.S. Postal Service mailboxes can be used.
