Metro-North has announced two schedule changes on the New Haven Line. One is for Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday) and another starts on Tuesday and continues into the future.
About the Monday holiday change, Metro-North said:
“The Hudson, Harlem, and New Haven Lines run on an enhanced Saturday schedule on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 15.
“There will be additional service during the morning and evening rush hours. To plan your trip, use the TrainTime app” or visit this web page for schedules. The same Saturday schedule also applies to the New Canaan Branch.
About the change starting Tuesday, Jan. 16:
“We’re making some rush-hour changes while we replace track and switches near Grand Central,” Metro-North said in a separate announcement. The good news is that the New Haven Line has the smallest change — affecting one train that starts just past 6 p.m., headed for New Haven — it will run five minutes later:
“The 6:07 p.m. train from Grand Central to New Haven will not run. The 6:12 p.m. train from Grand Central to Bridgeport will be extended to New Haven and make the stops of both trains.”
The announcement gave this additional information about the track work:
“Our crews will be replacing several key sections of track and switches near Grand Central. The work will limit which tracks we can use, which requires us to slightly reduce service at rush hour. We expect this project to be completed in the early spring. […]
“All riders should check TrainTime for possible minor changes that may affect their departure times. Customers departing Grand Central should check the departure board or TrainTime before going to the platform, as some trains will leave off different tracks than they currently do.”
Correction: This article originally gave both 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. for the train schedule change starting on Tuesday, Jan. 15. It is p.m.
