Charlotte M. Suffredini, 83, of Avon, Ohio and formerly of Darien, passed away on March 16, surrounded by her family. Charlotte was born to Louise and Charles McFarlin on March 24, 1940, in Sheffield, Alabama. Her family moved to Darien when she was 5 years old. She graduated high school from Low-Heywood Thomas School in 1958 and attended Centenary University in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where she graduated with an associates degree. She worked for THE telephone company in the early 1960s.

Peter James Corbett, age 61, of Fairfield passed away on March 15, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. Peter was born in New Haven on Feb. 22, 1963 to Peter Hand and Barbara Thomason Corbett. Growing up, he played football, hockey and baseball, and helped to start the Darien High School lacrosse team. Peter also enjoyed racquet sports, skiing, kayaking and hiking.

Peter Haaren of Keene, New Hampshire passed peacefully at the age of 96 on March 8, 2024 at 11:33 a.m.

He was surrounded with the love of his family, caregivers at Langdon Place Rehab and the hospice staff of Home healthcare, hospice and community services (HCS) of Keene. Peter was married and devoted to his now deceased wife of almost 70 years, Sarah Bernart Haaren, in 1953. Peter was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He was beloved by many and known for his fierce independence, kindness, and love of the great outdoors. He was civic minded, serving as a selectman in Mount Holly, Vermont and as an EMT on the Rescue Squad with his wife Sally, in Mount Holly.

David Alan Hogan, 88, of Wilton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, with his wife Catherine and son John by his side. A longtime resident of Darien, Al was known for his sense of humor, good heart, and fighting spirit. True to himself until the end, Al dined at his favorite restaurant on the night of his passing and walked under his own power for one final night on the town. Born Nov. 18, 1935, in Albany, New York, Al was the son of Mary Emma Hogan and Alan D. Hogan.

Linda Rugh Halsted, 77, most recently of Ridgefield, died on Saturday, March 2, following a brief illness. Linda was born Nov 1, 1946 in Pittsburgh to Margaret (Woratschek) and Philo Rugh, M.D. After studying preschool education at Centenary University and Temple University, Linda married. She started a family and raised her children in Darien and spent her retirement years in Gulf Breeze, Florida. She had recently returned to Connecticut to be close to family and friends during her illness. Linda’s career as a principal executive assistant included tenure at companies such as Cadbury-Schweppes and Virgin Atlantic.

It is with a grateful heart that we announce the end to a beautiful life. Dorothy (Dot) Harrison Norris entered eternal rest on March 4, weeks shy of her 96th birthday. Born at Norwalk Hospital on March 31, 1928, an only child to Charles and Dorothy Harrison of Darien, Dot was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School in 1945. She went on to receive her degree from Penn State University. Soon after she met the love of her life, Thomas J. Norris, they married in 1950 at Noroton Presbyterian Church.

In 1959, at the age of 15, Matt and his family arrived by ship in New York, ready to embark on a new journey in America. Together, with his identical twin brother, Luca, they set out to live the American Dream.

Lance Choos, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida. He was born in Highland Park, Illinois to Warren and Ramona Choos. The eldest of his four siblings, Lance was fiercely independent and deeply valued his education. After graduating he enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he majored in economics and was a founding member of the university’s football program.

Carolyn Schreiner Calder passed away peacefully on Jan. 25. She was born in 1951 to the late Doris Moon Schreider and Samuel Schreider Jr. Carolyn grew up in Darien and graduated from Finch College. In 1979 she married the love of her life, Scott Calder. They were married for 44 years until Scott’s passing in May 2023.

Helen Millin Freeman was born Helen Millin to Richard Bardwell Millin and Helen Taylor Jones Millin on April 20, 1929 in Missoula, Montana, growing up in Salt Lake City and moving to Phoenix, Arizona as a teenager. She met her husband while serving lunch at the U.S. Army Specialized Training Program in 1945 during World War II. They were married in 1950 and moved to Washington, where she served as an organizer in graduate student housing and worked at Boeing as a computer programmer, and then to Berkeley, California where she also programmed vacuum tube computers at the University of California. Helen holds an associate’s degree from Phoenix Junior College, a Baccalaureate from the University of Washington, and a Master of Science degree in education from the University of Bridgeport. She moved to Connecticut in 1958 and joined the Fish Church, spending a year in Stamford before settling in the Springdale section of Darien, where she remained until 1990.

Bob’s family moved several times during his childhood, settling in Arlington, VA. Bob graduated from the University of Virginia, served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, and then obtained an MBA from Wharton.
