Lance Choos, 64, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Thursday, Feb. 22 at Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida.
He was born in Highland Park, Illinois to Warren and Ramona Choos. The eldest of his four siblings, Lance was fiercely independent and deeply valued his education. After graduating he enrolled in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he majored in economics and was a founding member of the university’s football program.
After graduating in 1981, Lance was recruited by Greenwich Capital Markets and moved to Fairfield County, where he raised his family. After 27 years at GCM, Lance brought his talents to CapRok Capital and retired in 2018.
Lance lived life to the fullest and fully enjoyed his last years doing what he did best: golf, tennis and cycling, with a few pours in between. Together with Daisy, they climbed Mount Batur in Bali, sailed on the Empress in Haloong Bay and, just this past Christmas, played Santa in Beverly Hills.
Lance is survived by his loving companion, Daisy Chin-Lor; his mother, Ramona Choos (née Golblatt);, his three siblings: Brenda Choos, Syrene Robbins (née Choos) and Raoul Choos; and his children: Samantha, Lizzie and Drew Choos. He is predeceased by his father, Warren Choos.
A graveside service for his family was held Feb, 26,2024 in Greenwich, followed by a funeral service the following day at North Suburban Synagogue Beth El in Highland Park, Illinois.
To honor Lance’s memory, the family will be holding a celebration of his life planned for this spring at Wee Burn Country Club in Darien. Everyone who was lucky enough to know Lance is welcome to attend. Details to be announced.
