It is with a grateful heart that we announce the end to a beautiful life. Dorothy (Dot) Harrison Norris entered eternal rest on March 4, weeks shy of her 96th birthday.
Born at Norwalk Hospital on March 31, 1928, an only child to Charles and Dorothy Harrison of Darien, Dot was raised in Darien and graduated from Darien High School in 1945.
She went on to receive her degree from Penn State University. Soon after she met the love of her life, Thomas J. Norris, they married in 1950 at Noroton Presbyterian Church. They eventually settled in Noroton Bay where they raised their family.
Later in life Dot and Tom split their time spending winters in Florida, where they enjoyed many rounds of golf and walks with their beloved scotty dogs Patty and Shammy. They returned to Connecticut full-time in the late ’90s, where they continued their love affair until Tom’s passing in 2004.
Dot was a woman of faith and a lifelong member of Noroton Presbyterian Church where she often enjoyed early service in the second pew. The church played a key role in Dot’s life; in addition to being a church secretary she proudly served as a deacon and on numerous committees and boards.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Cynthia Norris of Orange and Thomas (Harry) Norris (Liz) of Norwalk. Also surviving are her four grandchildren: Melissa (Troy) Heffern of Annapolis, Maryland. Michael (Marissa) Norris of Oradell, New Jersey. Jessica (Charlie) Audet of Fairfield and Gregory (Olivia) Norris of Chicago; and seven beautiful great grandchildren: Jacob, Sawyer & Sloane Heffern, Mason & McKenna Norris, and Evelyn & Vincent Audet. A granddaughter, Kimberly Norris, predeceased her in 2013.
Always known as “a force to be reckoned with,” she was a woman small of stature but huge in spirit, she will be missed by many. Her memory will live on in us all — Love Never Dies.
A celebration of her life will take place at 11 a.m. on March 16, 2024, in the chapel at Noroton Presbyterian Church, 2011 Post Road, Darien.
