Edward Barr Goodnow (Ned), 98, a longtime resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on Jan. 28, 2024. Ned lived a rewarding and fulfilling life. He was a devoted father, husband, and friend, as well as a decorated veteran, a notable investor, a committed philanthropist, and an enthusiastic angler and athlete. Robert “Bob” Thorn Lamkin died on Jan. 31 at age 95. He was born in Brooklyn, New York, the only child of Robert and Amy Lamkin. Bob’s family moved several times during his childhood, settling in Arlington, VA. Bob graduated from the University of Virginia, served in the Army as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean War, and then obtained an MBA from Wharton.

Norman Kendrick Carrier of Flat Rock, North Carolina, passed away on Feb. 8 at the age of 86. Norman was born on July 11, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky to Mildred Estelle Cooley (Carrier).  He was adopted as a young child by Virgil Sampson Carrier, his lifelong father, after Virgil married Mildred in 1942.  Norman grew up in the Springfield, Illinois area, with brief stays in Pensacola, Florida and Sitka, Alaska.  Norman graduated from Lanphier High School (in Springfield) in 1955. Norman attended Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois for three years and was a Sigma Chi brother. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Illinois, Champaign, in 1960.

Ed was born on Dec. 9, 1937, in New Haven to parents Edmund W. and Mary McGarry Keeley. Edmund grew up in North Haven, attending Hopkins Grammar School, where he enjoyed writing and sports and formed lasting relationships with his classmates.
