Police: Woman Charged with Shoplifting at Darien Supermarket in 2022 Arrested on a Warrant on Saturday

A 62-year-old woman was arrested in a warrant July 6 after stealing merchandise at Whole Foods Market on Feb. 6, 2023, Darien police said. Police gave this account, including accusations not proven in court:

In February 2023 (when the woman was 61), a manager in the supermarket at 150 Ledge Road told police that an older woman was seen stealing store items and later putting them into a blue 2020 Mazda CX-5. Three days ago, on Saturday, July 6, the woman (who lives on Summer Street in Stamford) was arrested on a warrant, apparently after turning herself in at Police Headquarters. She is charged with sixth-degree larceny and is scheduled to appear July 19 in state Superior Court in Stamford.

Police: Video Shows Two Men Stealing Meat Worth More than $250 from Supermarket

Two males stole meat items priced at a total of $253.25 from Stop & Shop on Monday evening, June 24, a store detective told police. Police gave this further account:

A video surveillance recording showed one of the men who took the meat wore a black and white baseball cap; the other was dressed entirely in black. The store is located in the Old Kings Market shopping plaza, formerly Goodwives Shopping Center.

A 37-year-old New Haven man became disruptive with other customers immediately after entering Palmer’s Market, and he was even attempting to start fights with some of them, Darien police were told. Police gave this account of the incident, including accusations not proven in court:

The incident happened shortly before 6 p.m. (when police went to the Heights Road supermarket) on Saturday, May 11. The man walked out of the store with a 12-pack of beer without paying, police were told. Police found the man on Hollow Tree Ridge Road, carrying the beer. The man told police he was drunk and needed some beer.

Shoplifting Cases: Sunglasses Worth $300 from Warby Parker, Bagful of Merchandise from Walgreens

Shoplifters hit two Darien stores recently, apparently walking out with three pairs of sunglasses from one and a bag of merchandise containing what appeared to be cold medicine from another. The first incident happened at the Warby Parker store at Darien Commons in Noroton Heights. The manager said a female entered the store at 5:40 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8 and was seen selecting various sunglasses throughout the store. She left the store without buying anything. Employees checked the shelves and discovered that three pairs of sunglasses were missing.

Two shoplifters walked out of Stop and Shop sometime on Sunday, April 21 without paying for over $1,000 worth of stolen merchandise, according to police. Two days before, two women and a man left CVS at 964 Post Road carrying stolen merchandise worth more than $500, police said. Police gave these accounts of the incidents, including accusations not proven in court:

An employee at Stop and Shop in Goodwives Shopping Center told police about the incident there the next day. A total of $1,076 worth of merchandise was taken. The haul that the trio at CVS walked off with on Friday, April 19, is worth $535, police were told.
