Mary Gwyn Schreiber, formerly of Darien, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2024 in Redmond Washington, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. She was 92. Mary Gwyn, MG, as she was affectionately called by family and friends, was the daughter of Cloyd and Mary Huffard of Manhasset, New York, and Wytheville, Virginia. MG graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. MG married George J. Schreiber III, son of George and Hallie Schreiber of Port Washington, New York.

Thomas William Taylor Sr., a 45-year resident of Darien, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024. — This obituary, originally was published on April 2, now has information on his wake, to be held today, Friday, and his funeral on Saturday: His family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2024 at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road.  A memorial service will be held at Noroton Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m., Saturday June 1. Thomas William Taylor Sr. was born in 1937 to Alva and Mary Taylor in Coshocton, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University and his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School. After graduation, he lived in Cleveland, where he met his wife-to-be, Janet Hausser.

Those of us who were lucky enough to have Bob in our lives would not be surprised, as Bob had the biggest heart of anyone we knew. Bob was born in Somerville, Massachusetts. Robert Woodhull Hopkins, 95, passed away Saturday, April 6, at Stamford Hospital. He was husband to Joan Dreher Hopkins, the son of Robert Carl and Eleanor Adams Hopkins and little brother of Sylvia Hopkins Siegler. He was a beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. Bob was born in Orange, New Jersey, on February 9, 1929. The family would move to Connecticut a few years later, and Bob would become a proud lifelong resident of Darien.

Constance Bessell Davidson, age 86, of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday March 14, 2024 at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital. Constance “Connie” was born in Paris on Nov. 6, 1937 to a loving military family including a mother who waited for many years to have a precious daughter.  As an army brat, Connie grew up as an only child on the grounds of the United States Military Academy at West Point.  She attended West Point Post School, Highland Falls High School and Marymount College, earning her bachelor’s degree with a major in Spanish and minor in Education. Connie was anchored throughout her life by her strong Catholic faith, and modeled across her lifetime what it means to be a passionate and strong believer who puts others first. She was an incredibly resilient person and never complained about any adverse circumstances in her life.  Connie lived in so many wonderful places which fostered her opportunity to have so many incredible friends all around the world.

Elise (Lee) Bradley Mackay of Locust Valley, New York, daughter of the late Elise Cavanagh Bradley and the late Thomas A. Bradley, Jr, died peacefully at home on March 15, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Lee attended Green Vale School in Glen Head and the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton. She made her debut in 1964 at a supper dance hosted by her parents at Tabhill. Lee graduated in 1968 from Connecticut College, where she studied art history. She had a lifelong passion for the arts and enjoyed attending ballet, theatre, opera and visiting museums.
Lee had a career in real estate in Locust Valley for over forty years.

Kenneth “Obie” Harrington-Howes, 69, died on March 16, 2024 in Portland, Maine. Having suffered a spinal cord injury (SCI) nearly 27 years ago, Obie lived a life of tremendous strength and dignity. With humor, grit, and desire to help others, he brought hope and warmth to hundreds with SCIs. He was amazing to the end as he also dealt with lung cancer and congestive heart failure. Born Christmas Day in 1954 in Framingham, Massachusetts, to the late Kenneth Howes, Jr., and Augusta Wolcott Howes, Kenneth Howes III had three older siblings, Franny, Anna, and Lili who adored him and dragged him around like a doll, calling him “Our Brother,” which became Obie.

She graduated high school from Low-Heywood Thomas School in 1958 and attended Centenary University in Hackettstown, New Jersey, where she graduated with an associates degree. She worked for THE telephone company in the early 1960s.

Peter was married and devoted to his now deceased wife of almost 70 years, Sarah Bernart Haaren, in 1953. Peter was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He was beloved by many and known for his fierce independence, kindness, and love of the great outdoors. He was civic minded, serving as a selectman in Mount Holly, Vermont and as an EMT on the Rescue Squad with his wife Sally, in Mount Holly.
