Anne Schroeder Anderson, 89, of Redding,  passed away peacefully on Jan. 24. Anne was born in August 1931 to Katherine and Wade Schroeder in Chicago. She grew up in Oklahoma City, Evansville, Indiana and Wheaton and Hinsdale, Illinois, suburbs of Chicago. She graduated from Wellesley College in Massachusetts in 1953 with a degree in art history.

Jeanne McBeath Smith, widow of Bishop F. Smith, Jr., passed away peacefully and gracefully on Jan. 19, 2021. Born in 1927, she was the daughter of the late Mary and John McBeath of Washington, D.C. and Boca Raton, Florida. Jeanne graduated from the Ogontz boarding school and Junior College in Rydal, Pennsylvania in 1947 and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She loved teaching and attended Emory University for post-graduate studies in education.

Barbara Ann Kelley, a longtime resident of Southport on the Mill River, passed away on Jan. 27, as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s. She was a regal 95. Barbara was born on Dec. 19, 1925 to Cal and Bessie Baze in Grosse Point, Michigan, where she also grew up.

Jennifer Austin James, 77, passed away on Jan. 15 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington after a brief illness. Born to Dorothy J. Muller of Darien and Francis W. James of Lexington, Massachusetts, Jennifer was a Connecticut native and spent her entire youth living in Darien. Known to her friends as “Jef,” she attended Darien public schools and then continued on to Marietta College in Ohio. In 1966 she married her high school sweetheart from Greenwich.
