The Darien Department of Public Works will begin replacing the sidewalk on Nearwater Lane between the intersections of Brush Island Road and Nickerson Lane early in November, according to an announcement on the town government website. The project will start on or about Monday, Nov. 3, 2025, the announcement said. Preliminary layout and tree removal will begin before that. The project is expected to take about one month.
Anyone who wants to tell the Darien public works officials about a non-emergency problem — like potholes or damaged trees — can use an app called “SeeClickFix” or go to this web page on the town government website. The town website also can be used to report cases of blight to the town Blight Review Board, according to an announcement in the latest Town of Darien Newsletter. “Residents can submit the issue, communicate directly with the appropriate department, and track the process right through the app or a SeeClickFix account,” the announcement said. “This digital system saves phone calls and emails, and enables the Town to respond to issues quickly and efficiently.” Using the Town Website to Report a Problem

The original schedule was issued in early July. Here’s the new list (minus paving that was newly scheduled from Thursday through Monday — the revised list is on the town government website, here). Greenwich is next on May 10; Darien on June 7. Stamford and Norwalk come next, then New Canaan, on Sept. 27 — the final collection day this year. Preliminary layout work and saw cutting will begin before that. Work is expected to take about five months. Work will begin at Leroy Avenue and progress towards Herman Avenue. The sidewalk will be constructed of concrete and will include handicap ramps at intersections.
