The Darien Community Association (DCA) is offering two bridge classes starting in March.
Bridge Supervised Play
Joan Bergen
This will be a one day class with supervised play and hands covering the following topics: Defense, More defense, D.O.N.T., Negative Doubles, Take out Doubles, Michael’s Cue Bid, and Unusual 2 NT. Instructor Joan Bergen.
Bridge Supervised Play will be held on Tuesday, March 14th from 9:30am-11:30am.
Course fees are $30, or $25 for DCA members. Prepayment is required, and registration closes on Monday, March 13. A minimum number of prepaid students is necessary to run the class, with a maximum of 8 students. Registration is available online at dariendca.org or by contacting the DCA directly at info@dariendca.org or 203-655-9050 ext. 10. Classes are held at the DCA at 274 Middlesex Road in Darien.
Bridge 7
This class will be a continuation of Bridge 6. Topics will include play of the hand, splinter bids, new minor forcing, and other topics. Instructor: Joan Bergen.
Bridge 7 will be held on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for six classes on March 28, April 4, 11, 25 and May 2, 9.
Course fees are $180, or $150 for DCA members. Prepayment is required, and registration closes on Monday, March 27. A minimum number of prepaid students is necessary to run the class, with a maximum of eight students. Instructor Joan Bergen is a long-time Darien resident and Bridge Life Master who, after studying bridge intently for eight years, is driven to teach others. Students will benefit from Joan’s enthusiasm and love for the game that she describes as both a great way to meet people, and a great activity to keep the mind sharp. She’s developing quite a following!
