Obit Angelo Procaccini 5-27-16

Angelo Procaccini, 91, passed away on May 25, 2016.

He was a resident of Darien residing his entire life not far from the family farm and the home in which he was born to Luigi and Carolina Russo Procaccini on Aug. 11, 1924.

He was one of 10 children. His family lived on a farm, now the site of the Kensett development, where they raised their own vegetables and livestock.

The children attended the small (now converted) schoolhouse on Camp Avenue, just the next street over. In his early years he was a World War II veteran serving in constructing military bases for the U.S. Army.

___________

— an obituary from the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory

___________

Angelo took great pleasure in his work and his family, whereas his family took priority in his life. He worked everyday operating a gravel and stone processing facility for uses as construction materials on the family owned-land well into his 80s, as well as owning and operating A. Procaccini & Sons Excavating Co. of Darien with his two sons.

Angelo was well known and loved by many, and welcomed all into his circle. He had a charismatic personality and sometimes a sharp sense of humor. He was kind and very generous, even to a fault at times.

He leaves behind two sons, Jim Procaccini and his wife Debi of Trumbull and Jack Procaccini and his wife Erika of Darien; brother Louis Procaccini and sister Susan Wilson. He also leaves behind his grandchildren Jason, Nicole (Godbout), Greg, Danny, Hannah, A.J. and Georgia. Also surviving are his great grandchildren Kailyn, Logan and Emilio, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his loving wife, Bonnie Webb Procaccini, in 1985 and his siblings Joe, Charles, Chris, Frank, Sandra, Luciano and John Procaccini.

A funeral procession will be leaving the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m. at St. Gabriel Roman Catholic Church, 914 Newfield Ave., Stamford.
