A window was smashed and a purse containing a checkbook and credit cards was stolen from the center console of an SUV parked Sunday afternoon at the Darien YMCA, police were told.
The victim told police she had parked her gray 2012 Toyota Sienna in the lot at the Y from 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 5. When she returned, she found the front passenger’s side window broken out.
The purse, valued at $350, was missing. Along with the checkbook and credit cards, the purse had $20 in it, the woman’s driver’s license and Social Security card.
The victim told police that the car had been locked.
