Vehicles parked in front of three houses on the western side of Darien were entered overnight from Wednesday to Thursday, Dec. 13 to 14, police were told — and in one case a resident told police she saw a burglar. Nothing was taken.
All three vehicles were unlocked.
Darien police gave these accounts of the incidents, which occurred within a third of a mile from each other on Intervale Road and Park Lane:
31 Intervale Road, About 3:30 AM
At about 3:30 a.m., a homeowner at 31 Intervale Road was watching television when she saw a motion-activated flood light go on at the front of her house.
When she went to the window, she saw a male in her black 2006 Honda Pilot. She described the man as white, with a beard and wearing a black parka and scarf.
The woman pounded on the window, which caused the male to run off. When police checked the area, they found nothing, and nothing was found missing from the SUV.
17 Park Lane
At 17 Park Lane, a woman found footprints in the snow around her white GMC Acadia, which she found had been entered, since the center console of the SUV was open. Nothing was missing. Police, who were called at about 9:13 a.m., Thursday, asked around the neighborhood to see if anyone knew anything suspicious, but nothing turned up.
11 Park Lane
At about 9:40 p.m., a resident of 11 Park Lane told police her gray BMW sedan had been entered sometime overnight. The woman said that in the morning she found the door ajar and the interior light on. Nothing was reported missing.
