The Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) is seeking original, handcrafted works from artists for the annual Holiday Gift Show, running between Thanksgiving and Christmas 2019. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center

RAC will accept small ornaments and holiday-related items as well as jewelry, pottery and ceramics, candles, wooden toys and items, small furniture, knitted or crocheted items, fiber art, original cards and small prints or paintings. Receiving dates are Nov. 15 to 17, 2019. In order to participate, artists must sign up for a time to drop off their work.

The Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) will host a creative writing workshop in which participants take in the artwork in the current RAC exhibition, “Autumn Juried Show” for inspiration in writing a poem. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center
Norwalk’s Poet Laureate Bill Hayden will lead participants in an “Ekphrastic Poetry Experience” (poetry written about works of art) at the workshop on Monday, Oct. 28 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Writers of all levels will be given time to preview the artwork in the gallery before choosing of one or more pieces to focus on to create poetry. Afterwards, the group will gather to share and discuss the drafts. Anyone wanting to further edit their works is encouraged to contact Hayden for help.

‘At the Table’ Art Exhibit at Rowayton Arts Center, Now Through July 21

A new show at the Rowayton Arts Center, “At the Table” is on view now through July 21, 2019.  This all media exhibition features artwork by more than 50 RAC Exhibiting Artists members from the area. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center (RAC)
RAC gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 to 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Chair for the exhibition is Amy Schott and the Co-chair is Milan Chilla. The judge, Westport artist Heidi Palmer, focuses on three elements in her work: light, air and the meaning of time. Light governs her compositions, defines form and serves as the catalyst for delving into the ephemeral effects of air and atmosphere, which clarify the painting’s sense of place.

‘Farm to Gallery’ Fundraiser at Rowayton Arts Center Celebrates All Things Culinary and the ‘At the Table’ Exhibit

The Rowayton Arts Center is hosting a “Farm to Gallery” fundraising event on Wednesday, July 17 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
The evening celebrates all things culinary with the current show “At the Table” on display and the recent “Food for Thought” creative writing contest. Winners of “Food for Thought” will be on hand to read their food-inspired short poetry and prose. Curated cocktails featuring Tuck Gin and summer wines chosen by the Rowayton Wine Store will complement a lovely spread of summery light fare thanks to Palmer’s Market and other sponsors. Proceeds benefit RAC as well as the food pantry at The Open Door Shelter in Norwalk. The fee for the event is $30 (suggested donation).

Two New Exhibiting Members Announced by Rowayton Arts Center

The Rowayton Arts Center (RAC) announces the selection of two new exhibiting members who were juried in May. — an announcement from Rowayton Arts Center

These artists are Stacey Schneider of Norwalk and Anna Badini of Stamford. To become an exhibiting member, artists submit works to be reviewed by the Artist Selection Committee, which meets three times a year in January, May and September. Artists who are selected for three of the six RAC juried exhibits within a two-year period are also eligible for exhibiting member status. There are currently over 250 exhibiting members.
