ObitShe used her background in theater and her astute attention to detail to advance her career in public relations and event coordination at Philip Morris, Newsweek, the United Way, and The Diane Rehm Show.

Often adorned in her signature color purple, Sally traveled the globe. At 72, she never lost her independence, strength, sense of humor, and commitment to fun and adventure.

“The mention of her name always brought, and will always bring, a rush of good memories and a smile”, remembers Rick Smith, former Newsweek editor-in-chief and chairman.

She was a devoted Democrat who was passionate about voters’ rights and women’s rights. She was an avid gardener. As a Master Gardener and member of the Herb Society of America – Potomac Unit for the past 10 years, she lectured on growing vegetables and herbs and using them to make soaps and edibles. She will be sorely missed by both organizations where she had many friends and colleagues.
