Three sworn members of the Darien police force are being promoted — one to captain, another to lieutenant and a third to sergeant. A fourth member of the department, who was recently promoted, also will be part of an upcoming ceremony for all four promotions.
Police Chief Jeremiah Marron Jr. announced the promotions Monday afternoon. “On behalf of the Darien Police Commission, I am very pleased to announce the following promotions of sworn staff,” Marron wrote.
- Lt. Andrew Mastroianni to the rank of captain. Mastroianni has been with the Department for 19 years and currently serves in the Training Division.
- Detective Sgt. Daniel Skoumbros to the rank of lieutenant. Skoumbros has been with the Department for 20 years and currently serves in the Detective Division.
- Officer James Martin to the rank of sergeant. Martin has been with the Department for 20 years and currently serves in the Field Services Division.
All three promotions are effective on Friday, May 5.
“These promotions reflect the hard work, dedication and the level of commitment these three officers have to the Darien Police Department,” Marron wrote. “I would like to commend Capt. Mastroianni, Lt. Skoumbros, and Sgt. Martin as they advance their careers within our agency and wish them the best of luck in their new roles. These promotions signify not only personal achievement but also the Police Commission’s and the department’s confidence in their leadership abilities.”
Marron congratulated all the candidates who applied for promotions, “as they clearly put in a lot of time and hard work and are sure to continue to have promising careers within our agency. You all should be proud of your efforts and I thank you for that.”
A formal promotional ceremony for the three officers as well as recently promoted Sgt. Bryan Wallman, will be held in the near future, Marron said. The date will be announced later.
