Police: Ripping Off a Necklace and Overturning Furniture Gets Man, 47, Misdemeanor Charge

A 47-year-old Darien man ripped the necklace off a victim’s neck and flip several pieces of furniture during an angry argument at home on Friday night, Darien police said.

Police provided these further details about what happened, including accusations not proven in court:

Police were called to a home on Overbrook Lane at 11:39 p.m., where a complainant said that during an argument between the man and the victim, he ripped off the necklace and overturned the furniture.

When police spoke with the victim, she agreed with that account.

Officers also spoke with the man, who initially denied that the altercation even happened, but he later admitted to the necklace ripping and furniture overturning.

He was issued a misdemeanor summons charging him with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and telling him to appear Monday, Sept. 17 in state Superior Court in Stamford. His next court date is Oct. 30. He was also asked to leave the house.
