A 26-year-old Watertown man who had been charged in 2022 with stealing payment card information from customers of a Verizon store in Darien had later failed to appear in court and was arrested again, Darien police said.
Darien police provided this account, including accusations not proven in court:
In 2022, Darien police arrested the man, Joselito Rotger, on charges of identity theft and larceny after an investigation into two 2020 complaints from customers of the Verizon store that their credit card information had been stolen and used to buy various items.
Some of the items were bought on eBay and delivered to the address of Joselito Rotger, an employee at the store who had worked on transactions for the customers. Rotger had two court cases at state Superior Court in Stamford and at some point warrants were later issued charging him with failing to appear in court for each of the cases.
A bail enforcement officer brought Rotger to Darien Police Headquarters on Jan. 16, where he was arrested on two charges of failure to appear in court. He was taken to the courthouse the next day. His next court date is March 1.
According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, the court files in each case have been “statutorily sealed.”
