Linda Bush Davidson Head passed away on June 8, in the John Muir Medical Center in Concord, CA, from complications of colon cancer, attended by her son Carey and daughter-in-law Jill.

Linda Head passed away June 8. Her funeral is sheduled for July 21.

She had lived in Concord for the last 10 months, having moved there recently from Hamilton, NY. Linda was born in Boston and grew up in various locations before settling in Southwestern Connecticut.

While born with a severe hearing loss that later resulted in total lifelong loss of hearing, in her youth she loved reading and summer vacations in Rockport, MA.

Linda graduated from high school in Greenwich and obtained her higher education at Gallaudet College and American University. At this time, she received an award from Gov. Nelson Rockefeller of New York for her excellence in lip reading and oral communication.

Living in the Washington, DC area, she worked for US News and World Report for several years as an advertising analyst. Her marriage there to Patrick Griffin ended in divorce.

In 1970, she married Charles Head, a teacher from Stamford, and they settled in Darien. Their daughter, Laura, was born here in 1973 and son, Carey, in 1975.

While living in Connecticut, summer vacations in Belgrade Lakes, Maine, became a passion. The family relocated to Jacksonville, FL in 1976, and while there Linda worked for Worldwide Forwarding Company.

In 1984, the Head family moved to Miami Shores, FL, where Linda began working at St. Thomas University, then later as a clerk for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court. During this time, the family enjoyed summers in Captiva, FL and Hilton Head Island, SC.

In 2000, Linda and Charles separated, and Linda moved to Hamilton, NY. She and Charles divorced in 2006. She relocated briefly to Wellington, FL in 2012, but returned to Hamilton in 2014, where she remained until moving to Concord, CA just last year.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Bill Davidson of Hendersonville, NC and Louise Chapman of Vero Beach, FL. She is survived by her ex-husband, Charles, in San Francisco; her sisters: Lisa Davidson of Ellensburg, WA and Lucy Davidson of West Palm Beach, FL; and her half-brother, Bill Davidson, Jr. of Baker, FL; her children: Laura Head Spuck of Wellington, FL and Carey Adams Head of Pleasant Hill, CA; and three grandchildren, Lynn Spuck, Charley Head and Eva Head; as well as her niece, Sydney Yates, and nephew, Christian Skovgaard.

There will be a memorial service from 10 to 11 a.m., July 21, 2018 at Oasis Christian Fellowship in Pleasant Hill, CA.
