Police: ‘Large Amount’ of Money Stolen from ATM at Webster Bank

A “large amount of money” was stolen from an ATM machine at Webster Bank, 1101 Post Road, police were told by an employee who discovered it when entering the bank, Darien police said.

According to police:

The employee saw when entering the bank (next door to Darien Sport Shop) on Tuesday, April 11, that the ATM showed signs of tampering.

The employee then conducted an audit of the ATM. Police were called in at 9:40 a.m. An investigation is continuing.

Police did not say how much was stolen, what the tampering was, when it might have happened or whether video surveillance at the bank showed anything.
