Darien Library’s parking lot gets full when some popular events take place there, and the library today is hosting librarians from far and wide for a conference.

If the lot fills up and you still want to go there today, here’s how to deal with it:

Park in the Thorndal Circle parking lot. If you haven’t done it before, this map will help, and there’s a paved sidewalk to get you to the regular parking lot. You can’t park on the Post Road near the library any more, and you can’t park on Hecker Ave.

From a Darien Library tweet Thursday morning.

The library said in a different tweet that it’s hosting more than 100 librarians from the tri-state area for a “Readers’ Advisory Unconference”. (An “unconference” sounds like a conference, only different.)

Also, remember that the library will be closed on Saturday as librarians prepare for the “Party on Post” fundraising event, which you can attend for $150 (a bargain price, considering that events like these are what help to give you year-round free service for so many things).

When the new library was built, library use in Darien, always high, increased by a lot (the present parking lot is much bigger than the parking lot at the old location, 35 Leroy Ave.). Similarly, when the Mather Community Center was built in the Town Hall building, use of the Darien Senior Center increased by a lot. Something to remember: When town builds it, we will come — sometimes in large, unpredictable numbers. If a town swimming pool gets built, keep it in mind.
