BOYS SOCCER

GFA got four goals from four different scorers en route to a 4-2 win over Hamden Hall on the road on Monday.

Will Whelan (Fairfield), Henry Mcdonald (Westport), Charlie Benson (Darien) and Scott Yenor (Greenwich) all scored for the Dragons. Goalie Max Yates (Fairfield) finished with four saves.

The Dragons bested visiting Canterbury 5-1 on Wednesday by scoring four straight goals to snap a 1-1 tie midway through the first half.

Aidan Murphy (Darien), Benson (via a penalty kick), Liam Murphy (Westport), Ethan Lior (Fairfield) and JP Atehortua (Bridgeport) all scored for the Dragons, who improved to 9-5.

Aidan Murphy, Mitch Colonna (Norwalk), Tyler Bierman (Bridgeport), Mcdonald and Benson all had assists for the Dragons.

Yates made four saves while Ryan Buzzee (Norwalk) had six stops in goal for GFA.

GFA defeated King for the second time in a week as Mcdonald’s goal early in the second half stood up for the game-winner in the Dragons’ 2-1 win in Stamford on Saturday.

Benson also scored for GFA while Lior had an assist.

Yates made seven saves, who have also won 10 of their last 11 games.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Dragons gave up four first-half goals while falling to Sacred Heart-Greenwich 5-1 on the road.

Lauren Lior (Fairfield) scored the goal for GFA. Lane Murphy (Darien) had 16 saves.

The Dragons were limited to just three shots while falling to Canterbury 2-0 on the road on Wednesday.

Emma Orenstein (Westport) also scored for the Dragons while Murphy had eight saves.

FIELD HOCKEY

The nine-win GFA field hockey suffered its first losing streak of the season, falling twice.

Senior goalie Nikki Farber (Westport) had 16 saves on 23 shots as the Dragons were overwhelmed by FAA power Sacred Heart-Greenwich early in the week.

In a thrilling and exciting back-and-forth game that couldn’t be decided in regulation, the GFA field hockey team hosted Canterbury on Saturday and fell by a 5-4 count in overtime.

The Saints scored with 30 seconds left in the extra period, spoiling GFA’s Senior Day efforts that saw the final regular season home game for Nikki Farmer, Laila Pina and Kara Ventura.

GFA scored with 1:11 left in regulation to set up the extra period.

Rari Bellingeri (Stamford) netted her first career goal for GFA while Keely O’Shea (Darien), Autumn Bartush (Norwalk) and Zoe Koskinas (Fairfield) also scored for the Dragons.
