_______________

an obituary from Edward Lawrence Funeral Home

_______________

Dan spent 16 years volunteering at the patient registration desk of Stamford Hospital — logging 4,830 volunteer hours. He made some lasting friends there and enjoyed giving back to the community.

Dan is predeceased by his loving and supportive wife of 48 years, Rita Recker Jenkins, who left his side in 2012. His brother, Arthur Jenkins, also predeceased him.

Dan lived a long and happy life and is grateful to have had a retirement full of joy, growth and wonderful memories. He felt blessed by his family—especially his parents, his wife, his children and grandchildren. He lived his last years with his children and grandchildren who liked to play catch, chess and charades with him.

He regularly swam at the Darien YMCA, liked to talk about his days volunteering at the Stamford Hospital around the dinner table, enjoyed church services at St. Luke’s Church and had an investment group with friends for many years.

Dan is survived by his son Arthur Jenkins, daughter Ann Laczko, nephew David Jenkins, grand niece Elizabeth Wolden and his beloved grandchildren—James Jenkins of South Carolina, Amanda Laczko and April Laczko of Darien, CT.

The family asks friends and acquaintances to join in remembrance of Dan between 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 15 at the Lawrence Funeral Home, 2119 Post Road, Darien.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16 in the Chapel of Saint Luke’s, 1864 Post Road, Darien.
