Carole Lenore Hansen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30 at Stamford Hospital. She was 86.
Carole Hansen, 86, passed away on Jan. 30. Her wake will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 6, and her funeral on Feb. 7.
A longtime resident of Darien, Carole was born on Dec, 20, 1937, in Stamford to the late Walter and Eleanor (Whalen) Sandberg.
Carole is survived by her husband, John George Hansen; their daughters: Deena Esteban and husband, Lt. Col. Philip Esteban of Virginia, Donna Santoro and husband, Peter Santoro of Connecticut, and Sheila Rupp and husband, Tom Rupp, of South Carolina; her grandchildren, John and Richard Esteban, Stephen and Laura Santoro, and Alan and Robert Flandreau; and several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Hansen Flandreau.
A wake will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 7 at St. Thomas More Church in Darien. Immediately following the Mass, burial will at Fairfield Memorial Park in Stamford.
