A woman living on Knollwood Lane returned home on Tuesday, Oct. 13, to find empty jewelry boxes strewn on bedroom floors and jewelry worth thousands of dollars now gone.
The woman had left for work that morning at 5:30 and didn’t return until 5:35 p.m. and soon discovered the theft.
Her husband, who works from home, was there for most of the day but he left between noon and 1:30 p.m. without locking the outside doors. He left again for a time after 4:45 p.m. and locked the doors but didn’t set the alarm. There was no sign of forced entry.
When the wife first arrived back home, she didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary until she went upstairs to her bedroom and noticed a jewelry box on the floor that hadn’t been there when she left.
She opened a desk drawer and found numerous empty jewelry boxes. Then she went to her daughter’s room and found empty jewelry boxes on the floor.
A total amount of the loss was not given by police, who are continuing to investigate the incident, but a police report listed these items of jewelry as missing:
- A David Yurman brand set of earrings valued at $1,600
- A diamond stud earring valued at $400
- Two men’s watches, one valued at $1,000, no value given on the other
- Cuff links
- A Christmas pin
- A necklace
- Earrings valued at $100
- Other, various pieces of jewelry
