In one of two daytime burglaries reported to Darien police last week, various items of women’s jewelry were taken from a home on Nickerson Lane.

The theft took place sometime between 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 12 (Columbus Day), and there was no forcible entry, so the house is believed to have been entered through an unlocked door.

The last person to leave the home that day was gone by 10 a.m. The victim’s husband came back at 1:30 p.m. for about 30 minutes, but never went to the bedroom where the jewelry was stolen. Both husband and wife got back home at 5:30 p.m.

Various pieces of women’s jewelry and a jewelry box that had been sitting on the victim’s dresser are missing, although some pieces of jewelry were left behind. No value was mentioned in the police report.

The next day, a home on Knollwood Lane, also unlocked, was entered during the day and jewelry was stolen. Police did not say whether or not they believe the thefts may have been by the same person or persons.
