FOR AGES 3 THROUGH HIGH SCHOOL:
DANCE and MARTIAL ARTS: Spring classes begin Jan. 22, see catalog at the DAC website for tuition, dates and times.
Dance classes for all levels, ages 3 & up include Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Teen Lyrical, Teen Contemporary, Modern, Broadway Dance, Tap, and Pointe. Martial Arts for all ages 4 & up, the art of Karate and Kung Fu, focusing on self-discipline, self-control, self-defense and fun.
MUSIC:
Private Instruction in Piano, Guitar, Violin, Cello, Flute, Percussion, Voice — 30 minutes for $50, 45 minutes for $75 or one hour lessons for $99, Jan. 2 to June 15.
VISUAL ARTS: (New projects accommodate new and returning students.)
—Scribble Scrabble — ages 3-5, FRIDAYS, 1:10-1:55 p.m., Jan. 12-April 20. Young learners develop fine motor skills while using imagination to create drawings, paintings, collages & prints. $200.
—Cartooning — ages 7-12, MONDAYS, 4:10-5:10 p.m., Feb. 5-May 21. Students design their own characters & use them in one-panel cartoons and three-panel comic strips. Study facial expressions & body language as it relates to cartooning & the human figure. TV storyboards & caricature included. $280.
—Elementary Art Studio — ages 6-11, WEDNESDAYS, 3:40–4:40 p.m., Feb. 7-May 30. Developmentally appropriate projects will originate from art principles such as line, color, texture & form. A variety of media includes pastels, watercolors, acrylics & ink. Develop techniques & originality. $280.
—Click! Digital Photography — ages 9-12, FRIDAYS, 4:40-5:40 p.m., Feb. 9-June 1. Learn to use a digital camera or iPod Touch to take great photos with the rule of thirds, filling the frame, negative space, color, texture and scales. $240.
—Drawing/Painting — ages 10-15, WEDNESDAYS, 5-6:30 p.m., Jan. 3-Mar. 21. Draw figures, landscapes, still life and images from imagination. Technical skills developed and creativity encouraged. $300.
—Maker Station: Fantasy Inventions — ages 6-11, SATURDAY, 1-3 p.m., Mar. 10. Use STEAM skills and create inventions from imagination using new and recycled materials to problem solve and build new tools for everyday life. $40.

—Adult Painting — TUESDAYS, 9:30-11:30 a.m., Jan. 30–April 17. For all levels. Split into 5 sessions of watercolor and acrylics, focus will be on improving in each medium and understanding the fundamentals of creating an effective painting, such as composition, color, tone and scale. $280.
—Portrait Basics — SATURDAYS, 12 noon–3 p.m., Mar. 3-Mar. 10. Beginning to intermediate students will learn how to draw the human head from frontal, three-quarter and and profile views. Includes a field trip to Metropolitan Museum of Art. $80.
—Plein Air Painting — SATURDAYS, 12 noon-2 p.m., May 5 and May 12. A 2-day workshop at Weed Beach and Pear Tree Point in Darien. The fundamentals (proportion, values, color) will be explained and every level is welcome. A great hands-on experience for the artist who wishes to get out of the studio and enjoy the natural beauty of the Long Island Sound. $80.
