The latest loss from someone in Darien who didn’t lock a car parked outside overnight is a gray backpack and Chromebook laptop at 15 Herman Ave., Darien police said.
According to police:
The victim told police on Jan. 10 that she last saw the missing items in a 2011 Honda Pilot on Dec. 21. The sport-utility vehicle was parked outside, unlocked between then and Dec. 31, whenever it was parked in the driveway.
On that day she discovered the items were gone. She was prompted to check inside the SUV after she’d read about other unlocked motor vehicles being entered overnight on her street.
She estimated the value of the laptop at $300.
