A 2012 Audi Q5 was stolen overnight on Baywater Drive, and two other vehicles in the Noroton Bay neighborhood were also entered on the same night last week, residents told police.
The vehicles were parked at homes on Baywater Drive, Shipway Road and Waverly Road near Weed Beach (these links show the streets, the pins on the Google Maps are not meant to indicate exact locations on the streets).
Darien police gave these accounts of the three incidents, all of which occurred sometime from the evening of Tuesday, Feb. 7 to Wednesday, Feb. 8:
Stolen Car on Baywater Drive
A 44-year-old resident of the street parked the car in her driveway at about 10:15 p.m. She said she was unsure whether or not she locked the car, and she still had the key with her, although the original key had been lost a year ago.
Nothing unusual was heard overnight, but the next morning the car was gone. A nautical cleat was damaged on the left side of the driveway, so police believe the rear of the car may be damaged.
The victim said the only valuable items in the vehicle were clothing valued at about $900 that she intended to return to a store.
SUV Entered on Shipway Road
A 41-year-old resident of Shipway Road told police that when she went to her 2012 Chevrolet Suburban at about 7 a.m., she found the glove compartment and center console both open. She had parked the SUV in her driveway at 8:45 p.m. the night before.
She didn’t notice anything missing. The vehicle had been unlocked. Another vehicle was also parked in the driveway, also unlocked, but there was no indication that it had been entered.
Debit Card Taken from Car on Waverly Road
A 44-year-old Waverly Road resident told police a debit card taken from the center console of her 2016 Mercedes Benz overnight. She had parked the car in her driveway at about 9:15 p.m. and hadn’t locked it. Sometime the next morning she found it wasn’t there.

She didn’t seem to have been sure the card had been stolen until she heard about the other vehicles in the neighborhood being entered the same night. She contacted police on Friday, Feb. 10 to report the theft.
The police report did not indicate any money had been removed illicitly from her account.
