You and your family and friends are invited to the End of Summer Luau this Friday, Aug. 22 at Weed Beach, the Darien Parks and Recreation Department has announced.
Starting at 3 p.m. that day, Weed Beach will be closed to regular beachgoers.
Attendees who want to park their cars will need to register beforehand. As of Monday evening, there were 22 car spaces still available. Admission costs $20 per car.

ONCE PARKING PASSES FOR THE TOWN LUAU ARE SOLD OUT WALK-INS WILL BE WELCOME FREE OF CHARGE HOWEVER NO PARKING WILL BE AVAILABLE ON-SITE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.
Weed Beach will be closing at 3pm on 8/22 to the general public to allow us to prepare for the event.

Event Details: Darien Festive Night Beach Luau
Date: Friday, August 22nd, 2025 (Rain Date: TBD)

Time: 5:30pm-8:30pm
Who: This is an event for all Darien Residents and their guests.
Registration required to park at the beach, walk-ins welcome. Please note: registration is per vehicle, not individual.
Description: Join us for a beach Luau with DJ Entertainment, “best-dressed” group/individual contests, and tropical themed games like: limbo, Luau hop, tikki toss, tropical coin drop, cornhole, congo lines, and more! The beach and playground will be available for use during this event, so get your tropical attire ready and join us for this end of summer party!
Schedule of Events (subject to change):
5:30 p.m. – Check-In & find a beach spot!
5:30 p.m. – Concessions, Pizza truck & Kona Ice Open (Be sure to check out the grill’s tropical menu.)
5:45 p.m. – Table Top Kids’ Games open
6 p.m. – Hula Hoop Dance Party
6:10 p.m. – Luau Hop (Kids)
6:30 p.m. – Tug-O-War (Groups: Kids, Teens/Adults)
7 p.m. – Limbo Party
7:30 p.m. – Best Dressed Contests (Individual & Group Best Dressed)
7:50 p.m. – Congo Lines & Dancing
8:30 p.m. – Event End, please make your way to the exit by 9pm to prevent being locked in by the gates.
Food/Beverage Options:
• Bring your own picnic or support Antonio’s Pizza Truck
• Purchase regular concessions stand dining options, some with a “Hawaiian” twist
• Kona Ice of Stamford will also have their truck on-site with flavored shaved ice for purchase.
Parking: When you arrive at Weed Beach, the gate guard and volunteers will ask for your first and last name and number of attendees in your vehicle to check you in. Carpooling is encouraged and walk-ins will be welcome. Parking includes guaranteed parking at Weed Beach, access to the event, and a tropical lei for all participants in the vehicle (while supplies last).
