‘Knights for Aces’ Tennis Tournament for Kids and Teens, Aug 22 in Darien and Norwalk

Kids and teenagers of any skill level are invited to play in the Knights for Aces tennis tournament, coming Sunday afternoon, Aug. 22. — an announcement from Grassroots Tennis & Education
The competition, from 1 to 6 p.m., features round robin doubles tennis matches, starting on the courts of four clubs in Darien — Middlesex, Tokeneke, Wee Burn and Woodway. Participants are asked to arrive by 12:45 p.m.

After matches are played, the winning doubles team in each division will play in the finals at Grassroots tennis courts in Norwalk. Players and spectators are invited to enjoy pizza and refreshments, and winners will take home trophies and t-shirts. 
Finals and food will be  at the William Rippe Tennis Center at Springwood Park, 11 Ingalls Ave.

Katie and Emily are part of a wonderful group of Darien High School volunteers who assist on the tennis courts, in the classroom and at countless events. Emily and Katie went above and beyond this past year as tennis coach volunteers during the summer and at out holiday events. They are phenomenal volunteers, and we are so lucky to have them as part of our community!

Tennis/Education Group to Celebrate New South Norwalk Courts for Kids Monday; Chris Evert Appearance Canceled

Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education (NGTE), a nonprofit serving underprivileged children will celebrate the long-awaited renovation and expansion of its tennis courts in South Norwalk with an official opening celebration Monday, Sept. 9 — and you’re invited. The organization originally announced that tennis legend Chris Evert would be there, but that plan was canceled, the nonprofit later announced. A publicist for the organization said that Evert couldn’t be there “due to a scheduling conflict.” — an announcement from the Norwalk Grassroots Tennis & Education
