Talks on Preparing for College

Whether you’re a student or parent, join us at Darien Library for a two-part series on preparing for college. At 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, we will host Kristin M. White, college admissions consultant and author, for a lecture on “Building the College Application List.” Join Kristin as we discuss the early part of the college admissions process- the development of the college application list. There is more to it than just finding a good fit academically. Students should include colleges that are financial fits, a good social match, and most importantly, colleges where they are competitive in the admissions or merit scholarship process.

How to Take the Stress out of the College Essay: Free Seminar Wednesday

The college essay – a stressful requirement for students and parents alike.  But, it doesn’t have to be that way.  With college applications due dates beginning Nov. 1, there is still time to craft an essay in a more organized and less stressful manner. The essay offers students a chance to grab the attention of college admissions officers and explain what makes them unique and why they would be a great addition to the college’s student body. But rather than becoming overwhelmed by this part of the application process, students can utilize a well-structured approach to effectively show themselves in the best light possible. To help both students and parents with this college admissions rite of passage, Greenwich Education Group, in partnership with Arch Street Teen Center of Greenwich, will hold a free seminar entitled “Taking the Stress Out of the College Essay” on Wednesday, Oct.
