At 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, we will host Kristin M. White, college admissions consultant and author, for a lecture on “Building the College Application List.”
Join Kristin as we discuss the early part of the college admissions process- the development of the college application list. There is more to it than just finding a good fit academically.
Students should include colleges that are financial fits, a good social match, and most importantly, colleges where they are competitive in the admissions or merit scholarship process.
The presentation will cover:
- How big of a role should the potential college major play in determining the colleges on the list?
- Evaluating campus culture
- Finding merit scholarships and colleges that are financial fits
- Consider admissions selectivity: How to rate yourself and determine where you stand
- How to finalize the college application list
- Case studies
At 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27 please join educational advising and placement expert Dr. Michelle Berg for “Finding the Right College for Kids with Learning Differences.”
Dr. Berg will discuss ‘right fit’ colleges which includes full consideration of the academic, social and emotional realms of a student’s life. Dr. Berg will address:
- How to evaluate if a college has an appropriate level of support
- Essential skills that help students who have learning differences be successful in college
- Pros and cons of disclosing a student’s disability
