TRACK AND FIELD
Kristiana Modzelewski (Westport) became Greens Farms Academy’s first-ever FAA track and field champion, taking first place in the 300 hurdles to lead the Dragons effort at The Masters School on Tuesday and Wednesday. Modzelewski was clocked in 51.73 seconds, earning first place and the league championship. The senior also finished second in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.77 seconds. Will McCall (Westport), another senior, earned a second-place finish in the boys 1,500-meter run.

BOYS LACROSSE

Zach Liston (Wilton) scored four goals, including the game-winner in overtime to lift GFA to an 11-10 win over the defending league champs from Hamden Hall on Monday. Charlie Benson (Darien) added three more to pace the GFA effort. Ryan Pilkington (Weston) scored twice while Liam Murphy (Westport) and Henry Mcdonald (Westport) added single tallies for the Dragons. Benson and Will Magrone (Darien) had two assists each while Liston, Mcdonald, Pilkington and Murphy all had assists.

The boys lacrosse team defeated Hopkins 10-5 to notch their first win over the Hilltoppers in 22 years. And the GFA track team saw a pair of records fall during a meet against Kingswood Oxford in the middle of the week. Here is a rundown of the week:
BOYS LACROSSE
Zach Liston (Wilton) and Charlie Benson (Darien) combined for nine of GFA’s 10 goals as the Dragons bested Hopkins for the first time in at least 22 years with the win on Wednesday. Henry Mcdonald (Westport) also had a goal for the Dragons, who improved to 2-1 on the young season.

Darien’s Ciara Thurlow Named Head Coach of Greens Farms Academy Varsity Girls Lacross

Greens Farms Academy girls lacrosse is headed in an exciting direction come spring with the addition of two new coaches who are coming on board to lead the program. Ciara Thurlow has been named as the head coach of the varsity girls team, and Halley Quillinan Griggs will serve as the associate head coach for the Dragons. Thurlow, a resident of Darien, and Griggs, who recently moved to Rowayton, met recently when they ran the preseason program together for Darien High School. Each sensed an immediate connection with the other, and they are thrilled to be joining forces again to lead the Dragons. — an announcement from Greens Farms Academy
