Fairfield University’s Graduate Programs Get High US News Rankings — and Even Higher This Year

Fairfield University’s nursing school and business school already get high national spots for various specialties in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Graduate Schools rankings, and they got even higher this year. — from an announcement by Fairfield University

Each of the nearby university’s programs in finance, marketing and business analytics at the Charles F. Dolan School of Business improved its standing in this year’s report and are among the Top 20 in the U.S., the university said in an announcement. The business school’s Accounting Program was ranked at No. 26, nationally and No. 1.

Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour Visits Fairfield University

The Monterey Jazz Festival on Tour will visit Fairfield University’s Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts at 7 p.m., Sunday, April 16, for an evening of jazz and American Songbook favorites. — an announcement from the Quick Center at Fairfield University

The Monterey Jazz Festival is celebrating its 65th year with an ensemble featuring Grammy Award-winning vocalist Kurt Elling, whose career exploded in 2006 when he signed with Concord Jazz and began winning multiple awards and nominations. Elling performs alongside Monterey Jazz Festival singer Veronica Swift, and saxophonist Lakecia Benjamin. The band is directed by pianist (and Connecticut native) Christian Sands, whose third album won a Grammy for the best instrumental composition. Sands is anchored by his longtime rhythm section, bassist Yasushi Nakamura and drummer Clarence Penn.

Registration is now open for Fairfield University’s biggest celebration in New York City! Since 1988, The Fairfield Awards Dinner has raised more than $20 million for the Alumni Multicultural Scholarship Fund and other scholarships to help students, regardless of economic or social barriers. — an announcement from Fairfield University

Over 998 scholarships have been awarded from the Fund, including 18 students receiving an average of $31,000 each this year. Three members of the Class of 2023 share the impact of their scholarships in this video. The Awards Dinner also honors the achievements and volunteer service of distinguished alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends of the University.

Author of a Book About Coping with His Son’s Suicide Speaks at Fairfield University

Fairfield University will host local author Ivan Maisel, whose memoir “I Keep Trying to Catch His Eye: A Memoir of Loss, Grief and Love” was chosen as this year’s Fairfield Public Library “One Book One Town” (OBOT) selection. — an announcement from Fairfield University

In partnership with FairfieldLibrary, Maisel will be speaking about his memoir on Tuesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. at the Regina A. Quick Center for the Arts on the University’s campus. You can register here. “I Keep Trying to Catch His Eye” is an honest, deeply emotional memoir in which the author reflects on the loss of his son, Max, to suicide, the impact of grief on family, and the painful journey that brought Maisel to understand grief is an expression of love.
